Charlotte, NC - Visiting Allen University defeated Johnson & Wales Charlotte 3-1 in the Wildcats' home opener on Tuesday night.
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a quick early lead in the match, winning the first two sets 25-19 and 25-18. Allen seemed poised to do the same in the third period, jumping out to a 10-4 lead. The Wildcats rallied to tie the score at 11. JWU again fell down by four at 19-15, but the Wildcats closed with an 10-4 flourish to take the third set 25-23. Allen proved to be too tough in the fourth set, building a 19-10 lead in route to a 25-15 set win.
Kalin Lincoln led the Wildcats with 9 kills, while
Mikayla Seymour-Tucker and
Ahmarie Young added 7 each.
Loshi Ward and
Chanel Garcia combined for 26 assists, Ayanna Portillo had 13 digs, with Young and Jamia McCoy recording 9 each.
The Wildcats next travel to Paine College on Thursday, September 5th for a 6:00pm match.
