Misenheimer, NC - Saturday's Pfeiffer Invitational marked the second event of the season for the Johnson & Wales Charlotte cross country teams.
Sophia Varela was the top finisher for the Wildcats, running a new personal best 22:35.5 to finish in 25th place overall.
Jalynn Wright trimmed nearly three seconds off of her previous best time, posting a 30:24.8 to come home in 66th.
Aitana Matuty was right behind Wright, finishing in 30:50.7 in her college debut.
Caitlin Roberts (32:02.1/69th) and
Jayla Mills (36:07.8/72nd) were the other participating runners for JWU.
Their team score of 241 found them in 10th place.
The Wildcat men finished in pairs, led by
Dillon Neeley (27:54.6/20th) and
Stevenson Barnes (28:02.2/21st). They were followed by
Logan Shaffer who finished 29th in 28:28.0 and
Liam Robinson, who came across the finish line 30th in 28:51.8. JWU's third pair was
Colby Williams (32:03.0/56th) and
Erick Paz (32:37.0/57th). The Wildcats posted a team score of 136, good enough for 4th place in the 10 team men's field.
JWU has a quick turn around this week as they run in the Blue Bear XC Invitaitonal on Thursday, September 19th. Races start at 9am at Salisbury Community Park in Salisbury, NC.
