Charlotte, NC - Erskine outscored Johnson & Wales Charlotte 27-13 in the fourth quarter to claim a 61-58 win on Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats jumped out to an 11-2 lead to start the game, and led 18-11 after one quarter as
Jordan Durant scored 8 of her 16 points on the day. The teams played to a stalemate in the second period, sending JWU to the locker room with a 29-22 advantage.Â
Erskine fell further behind in the third quarter, shooting just 4 of 12 from the floor and 3 of 6 at the free throw line, but then turned the tables in the final stanza, making 9 of 17 shots, while JWU struggled, going just 5 of 20 from the field. Erskine took their first lead since the game's opening minute at the 4:48 mark, and eventually led by as many as 8. JWU cut the lead to just one with ten seconds to play, but could get no closer.
Kyrah Davis led JWU with 17 points. Durant had 11 rebounds to go along with her 16 points.Â
JWU heads to Spartanburg, SC on Wednesday as the Wildcats take on Spartanburg Methodist at 5:30pm.
