Hamilton, OH - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's basketball team picked up their second win in as many tries against a top 5 opponent on Saturday as they downed #4 Miami-Hamilton 83-74.
The Wildcats raced out to a 20-3 lead in the first quarter, keyed by 11 points from
Jordan Durant. JWU led by 17 after twenty minutes, and 14 after the third quarter.Â
Miami-Hamilton trimmed the JWU lead to as few as five in the final stanza, but the Wildcats converted 6 of 8 free throw attempts in the final minute to seal the win.
Durant led the Wildcats with 21 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 9 assists.
Gabby Tapley posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Laken Powe had 12 points on 6 of 8 shooting, while
Maliah Preston scored 8 points, handed out 8 assists, and pulled down 8 rebounds.
JWU continues their road trip on Wednesday, January 8th as they travel to Morris College at 5pm.
