Charlotte, N.C. - Johnson & Wales Charlotte defeated Randolph 55-50 in women's basketball on Saturday afternoon.
The game was close throughout, featuring six ties and five lead changes. Randolph's Sophia Sevens hit a three pointer with just under seven minutes remaining to give the WildCats a 48-47 lead. JWU closed the game on an 8-2 run from that point, led by
Kyrah Davis's 4 points. The free throw line proved to be the difference in the game, as JWU made 18-19 attempts, while Randolph converted on just 10-17 shots.
Laylah Toscano scored 18 points, pulled down 11 rebounds, and recorded 5 steals to lead JWU.
Gabby Tapley had 9 points and 14 rebounds.
JWU next welcomes Salem on Tuesday, 11/18 for a 6pm tipoff.
