Brevard, N.C. - Brevard defeated Johnson & Wales Charlotte 98-94 in overtime in men's basketball on Saturday afternoon.
The Tornados raced out to a 47-35 halftime lead as they shot 63% from the field in the period, making five of ten three point attempts. JWU used a 15-4 run in the second five minute segment of the second half to forge a 62-62 tie with 9:50 remaining. The Wildcats made 6 of 7 field goal attempts during that run to get back into the game.Â
JWU led by five points with 74 seconds to play before it was Brevard's turn to rally. The Tornados got three baskets in the final minute to force an extra session. Brevard opened the overtime with an 8-1 spurt, and never led by less than two points the rest of the way.
Five Wildcats scored in double-figures, led by
Nantambu Calhoun's 21 points.
Antonio Perkins added 19, while
Cole Callaway had 15.
Christian Outlaw and
Amare Robinson combined for 20 points and 12 rebounds.
The Wildcats next travel to Averett University for 2:00pm game on December 16th.
