Pride Outlast Wildcats in OT

Charlotte, N.C. - Greensboro College defeated Johnson & Wales Charlotte 95-94 in the final game of the 2025 Jay Bilas Classic.

The Wildcats built a ten point advantage in the game's first seven minutes as they connected on each of their first seven field goal attempts. The Pride answered with a 25-7 run to take an eight point lead at 40-32 with 2:19 left in the half. Cooper Wiley then scored six straight points to end the period, pulling JWU to within two points at 40-38.

A William Givens, Jr. three pointer gave JWU a six point lead, 67-61 just past the half way mark of the second period, their largest lead of hte half. Greensboro closed the gap eventually pulling even with the Wildcats on a Nygie Stroman three pointer with 52 seconds left in regulation, sending the game into overtime.

JWU briefly led by four points in the extra session before Greensboro rallied to tie the score at 89 with 81 seconds left. The teams traded the lead across the next six possessions with the Pride converting a layup with ten seconds to play for the game's final points.

Five Wildcats scored in double figures, led by Nantambu Calhoun's 22 points. Cole Callaway added 19. Cooper Wiley scored 17 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Jordan Appling joined Givens with 10 points. 

JWU next travels to Virginia Beach, Va. on December 29th to take part in the Captain's Shootout. They will face RIT at 5:00pm.
