Newport News, Va. - Johnson & Wales Charlotte fell to Rochester Institute of Technology 71-66 in the first game of the Captains' Shootout on Monday evening.
Neither team led by more than five points at any time in the game. Six straight points from
Ethan Smith forged a 64-64 tie with 2:30 to play before RIT reeled off seven of the final nine points of the game.Â
Smith and
Cooper Wiley each had seventeen points, while combining for 13 rebounds.
Nantambu Calhoun scored 20 points and handed out 4 assists.
The Wildcats wrap up play in the Captains' Shootout today at 5:00pm when they take on Hood College.
