Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's basketball team snapped a five game losing streak with a 74-62 win over Montreat on Monday night.
The Wildcats scorched the nets in the first half, shooting 60% from the field, including going five of eight from the three point arc. JWU led by thirteen at the half, and that lead grew to as many as nineteen in the second half. The Wildcat defense had a great deal to do with that, as they recorded 29 steals as part of 34 Cavalier turnovers. Montreat closed to within eight with 1:40 to play, but JWU converted 8 of 12 free throws down the stretch to keep Montreat at bay.
Jordan Durant scored 20 points and pulled down 8 rebounds.
Maliah Preston had 13 points, while
Laken Powe added 12.
The Wildcats travel to Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC on Saturday, February 22nd for a 1:00pm tipoff.
