Tennis Falls At Belmont Abbey

Belmont, NC - The Johnson & Wales tennis teams were back in action on Friday against Belmont Abbey after more than two weeks off due to inclement weather.

The Wildcat women got the program's first ever win in a #1 singles match as Hannah Christiansen defeated the Crusader's Taylor Reid in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3. It was the lone point for the Wildcats as they fell 6-1.

The men won a pair of singles matches as Hugo Cossais prevailed in the #3 singles tilt 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 10-8. Fernandeo Esteban won the #6 singles match 7-6, 6-4 for the other Wildcat point, as they lost 5-2.

JWU's men are back in action on Saturday, March 22nd when they welcome in Methodist for a 1pm match. The women next travel to Livingstone on 3/27.
