Pineville, N.C. - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's soccer team played their first home game of the 2025 season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Bluefield 3-0.
The Wildcats got off to a dream start, scoring twice in the game's first 3:35.
Dylan Steeves opened the scoring 108 seconds into the match when he collected a loose ball in front of net and tucked it into the lower left corner.
Alan Ramirez doubled the JWU advantage less than two minutes later when he fired a left footed strike low and left past Rams goalkeeper Stanton Cerda. The two goals broke the school record for quickest two goals to start a match by thirteen seconds.
JWU's defense made that lead stand up for the remainder of the game, allowing just eight shots for Bluefield, only two of which were on target.
Cooper Jason and
Jackson Acker combined for the clean sheet in goal.
Gael Hernandez scored his first collegiate goal with three minutes to play on a wonder strike from 25 yards out to the right top corner.
The Wildcats next travel to Southern Virginia on Wednesday, September 17th for a 4:00pm kickoff.
