Augusta, Ga. - Johnson & Wales Charlotte picked up its second road win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Paine College on Tuesday night.
The first set was tight throughout the early portion of the stanza until a 6-1 Wildcat run gave them a 16-10 lead from which they went on to win 25-18. Paine answered in the second set, leading virtually the entire way en route to a 25-20 win.Â
JWU closed the third set on an 8-2 spurt that resulted in a 25-16 triumph. Paine took an early lead in the fourth before JWU quickly leveled things. The rest of the set was incredibly close, ultimately going to extra points. Facing set point against at 24-23, the Wildcats reeled off three straight points to close out both the set and the match.
Taylor Green and
Marion Bataoel each had 10 kills and 3 service aces for JWU.
Madison Leslie and
Hailie Gordy combined for 24 assists and 7 service aces.
Jasmine Sullivan-Thompson and
Chanel Garcia had 11 and 9 digs, respectively.
JWU next travels to Swannanoa, N.C. to face off against Warren Wilson on Thursday, 9/25 at 6:00pm.
