Women's Basketball Withstands Bruins' Rally

Charlotte, N.C. - Johnson & Wales Charlotte defeated the Bob Jones 68-52 in women's basketball on Tuesday evening.
 

Highlights:

  • JWU built a 37-25 halftime lead in large part by causing 20 Bruin first half miscues. JWU had 48 field goal attempts in the first twenty minutes, compared to just 25 for Bob Jones.
  • The Wildcat advantage grew to 16 points with 2:10 left in the third period, 47-31.
  • The Bruins reeled off a 16-3 run over the next  5:40 of game time to cut the JWU advantage to just three points at 50-47.
  • A Kyrah Davis three pointer sparked a 16-0 Wildcat run that extended the lead to a game high 19 points with 3:30 to play.
Key Stats
  • The Wildcats outrebounded Bob Jones by 7 and committed a season-low 11 turnovers.
  • Laylah Toscano scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
  • Gabby Bryant came off the bench to score 11 points, while Maliah Preston was the third JWU player in double figures with 10 points.
