Greenville, S.C. - Bob Jones defeated Johnson & Wales 84-72 in men's basketball on Monday night.
The Bruins jumped out to a 23-11 lead in the game's first nine minutes only to see JWU respond with a 27-11 spurt to build a four point advantage, 38-34 with 3:46 left in the half.
William Givens, Jr. scored 10 of his 12 points during that stretch.
Cole Callaway converted a layup just before the halftime buzzer to send the Wildcats to the locker room with a 46-44 edge.
After shooting 52.1% in the first half, the Wildcats fell to just 28.1% shooting in the second twenty minutes. JWU grabbed six offensive boards in the period that helped them stay close to the Bruins until the final five minutes of the game.
Callaway led JWU with 13 points, while
Ethan Smith joined Givens in scoring 12 points.
Josh Smith came off the bench to score 11 points, and
Cooper Wiley tallied 8 points and 9 rebounds.
JWU concludes the regular season on Saturday, February 21st when they travel to Regent University for a 1:00pm game.
