Charlotte, N.C. - Johnson & Wales Charlotte defeated Regent 99-69 in men's basketball on Saturday afternoon.
The visiting Royals built a four point lead in the game's first four minutes only to see JWU respond with a 25-10 run to take a 31-20 advantage with seven minutes to play in the half. JWU used a true team effort in that run, as five different Wildcats made field goals. JWU led by as many as 16 in the half, before taking a 47-34 halftime lead.
Nantambu Calhoun opened the second half with a three pointer and the Wildcats were never threatened after that point .JWU forced 16 Regent turnovers in the half, part of 28 for the game. The Wildcats were able to convert those into 42 points on the afternoon.
Five Wildcats scored in double-figures, led by
Cole Callaway's 17 points.
Cooper Wiley added 15, while
Ethan Smith had 14 points and 7 rebounds.
Josh Smith came off the bench to score 13, while fellow sub
William Givens, Jr. tallied 10 points.Â
JWU returns home on Tuesday to host Warren Wilson for a 6:00 pm tipoff.
