Buena Vista, Va. - Southern Virignia defeated Johnson & Wales Charlotte 17-7 in baseball on Friday afternoon.

The Knights scored 11 runs over the first three innings to build an 8 run advantage. JWU scored twice in both the sixth and seventh innings as Marco Fernandez hit a two-run homer in the sixth and then drove home Marco Fernandez and Jordan Brown in the seventh.

Brown went 3-3 at the plate. Fernandez scored three runs and had as many RBI. John Quinones pitched well in relief for the Wildcats, logging 3.2 innings, allowing two earned runs, while walking two and striking out three.

The Wildcats next travel to Pfeiffer University on Tuesday, March 10th for a 5:00pm first pitch.
