Gastonia, N.C. - Guilford College defeated Johnson & Wales Charlotte 10-9 in 10 innings on Wednesday night.
The Wildcats had the offense rolling early, scoring seven runs in the first two innings.
Sami Nezaj scored on a wild pitch in the first and then doubled home
Jayden Nezaj and
Stetson Stack in the second. JWU added two more runs in the fourth as
Marco Fernandez hit a run scoring triple and later scored himself after
Dev Hernandez was caught stealing.
Guilford used a 7 run rally with two outs in the eighth to tie the score and then pushed across the eventual winning run in the tenth inning.Â
Fernandez and
Logan Howland each had two hits for JWU. Wildcat starter
McKinley Myles had his best start of the season, pitching 7.2 innings, allowing six earned runs. He walked two and struck out four.
The Wildcats next travel to Augusta, Ga. for three games against Paine College this weekend. The first game is Friday at 12:00pm.
