Men's Soccer Rallies Past Shaw For First Win

Raleigh, N.C. - Johnson & Wales Charlotte defeated Shaw 4-3 in men's soccer on Sunday afternoon.

The host Bears went two goals up just past the half hour mark on goals by Dillon McCrimmon and Ensa Manneh. JWU pulled one back three minutes before intermission, as Ashton Smith scored for the second consecutive game. Ryan Joye's second goal of the season pulled JWU level eight minutes into the second half, and Eli Adams netted a penalty kick three minutes later to put the Wildcats in front for the first time. Dominik Danko doubled the JWU advantage with a quarter hour remaining/ Shaw scored a consolation goal with nine minutes left, but the Wildcats were able to see out the rest of the clock.

JWU held a 16-7 advantage in shots, and earned 11 corner kicks to just 3 for the Bears. Danko led JWU with 5 shots, four of which were on target. Colin Starr made three saves.

The Wildcats open their home schedule on Friday, September 18th at 4pm when they welcome William Peace.
