Bluefield, W.Va. - The Johnson & Wales men's and women's golf teams opened their 2026-27 seasons at the Fincastle Intercollegiate, hosted by Bluefield University on Monday and Tuesday.

Freshman Kirstan Hodges followed a first round 81 with a second round 76 to take runner-up honors. Her 76 was the best score in the field by five strokes on a windy day, and was more than eighteen shots better than the field average. Fellow newcomer Abigail Harrington shot rounds of 94-95-189 to finish in 18th place, while Nellie Brewer shot a pair of 110's to come home in 25th.

The Wildcat men finished in eighth place. Logan Garrison matched Hodges's 76 in the second round, pairing that with an 81 in the opening round for a 157 total that landed him in a tie for 18th. Garrett Hartley also shot 81 in the first round. He followed that up with an 87 in the second round for a tied 32nd place result. Jack Shea (85-85-170/37th), Jake Weerts (82-92-174/39th), and Caleb Seremet (93-86-179/42nd) were the other counting scores for JWU.

JWU is next in action at the East Tennessee Collegiate on September 28th and 29th in Johnson City, Tenn.
