Box Score Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's soccer team kicked off the 2026 campaign with a 5-2 victory over Salem College on Tuesday afternoon.
Salem struck first, scoring in the eighteenth minute when Audrey Montieth sent a ball low and left into the Wildcat net. JWU answered fifteen minutes later when
Hannah Greene similarly slotted one low and left past Spirits goalkeeper Michaela Iapaluccio.
Monteith put Salem ahead again a minute into the second half before the Wildcats assumed control of the match. Salem was whistled for a handball in the penalty area and Jessica Garman converted the resulting penalty kick to tie the score at two. JWU scored thrice in a ten minute stretch from the 63rd to 73rd minutes as
Ashlynn Fleming,
Azalianna Absalom, and Garman each found the back of the net.
Garman paced the Wildcats with six shots, while Greene and Absalom added four each.
Zoe Balmer made three saves in goal to pick up the win.
The Wildcats open the home portion of the schedule on Friday, September 4th when they welcome in William Peace for a 1:00pm match.
