Brevard, N.C. - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte cross country teams continued their 2026 schedule at the Brevard XC Classic on Friday.
The Wildcat women scored a fourth place team finish, tallying 117 points.
Grace Gant posted another top ten finish, crossing the finish line in eighth place with a time of 21:31.9 across the 5k distance.
Lesly Perez-Temozihui ran a 26:28.4 to finish 34th. The other scoring runners for JWU were
Aitana Matuty (28:45.6/36th),
Joanie Santiago (29:20.0/37th), and Ja'Niyah Henderson (31:58.1/39th).
JWU's men finished fifth. Justin Wagner covered the 8k distance in 32:46.0 to finish 39th.
Justin Gavett ran a time of 36:23.9, coming home in 48th place. Fernando Esteban posted a new personal best with a time of 38:10.2 to take 52nd place. The final two scoring runners for the Wildcats were
Javaun Russell (40:11.3/53rd) and
Isaac Morrow (47:29.3/55th).
The teams are set to compete in the Winthrop Invitational on Friday, September 25th in Rock Hill, N.C.
