Charlotte, NC - Piedmont University defeated Johnson & Wales Charlotte 9-0 Wednesday afternoon at Park Road Park Tennis Center.

The Lions started strong, sweeping the three double matches. The #1 doubles pair of Melissa Gish and Imani Vincent topped the Wildcat #1's of Eboni Montague and Kendall Conrad 8-0. JWU's #2 pair, Maira Teurel and Miranda Montes fell to Tyler Perry and Hollan Rabensdorf 8-1. Hannah Stokes and Ginger Gibson, JWU's #3 doubles team lost to Ali Wilson and Anna Lassiter 8-0.

JWU also struggled in the singles matches as five of the six matches were straight set wins for Piedmont. Kendall Conrad played great tennis, splitting the first two sets with Perry, 6-4, 4-6, before eventually falling 10-7 in the third.

The Wildcats are next in action on Saturday when they travel to Randolph College for a 1pm match.
