Men's Tennis Has Inaugural Match at Benedict

Columbia, SC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's tennis team took the court for the first time on Wednesday, facing off against NCAA D-II opponent Benedict.

The Tigers swept the Wildcats 7-0, but the young team gained valuable experience.

Jonathan Millwood enjoyed the most individual success, falling to Mark Chigaazira 6-3, 6-3.

Samuel Wilder also played well in his first outing, falling 6-0, 6-3 to Batsiraii Saurombe.

Joshua Dobson, James Hagedoorn, Abdullah Harper, and Devonte Hill were each blanked in their matches.

Millwood and Wilder pushed Chiaazira and Saurombe in the first doubles match before falling 6-4. The Tigers swept the other two doubles matches to claim the point.

The Wildcats are next in action on Sunday, February 13th when they host Brevard at Park Road Park for a 1pm match.
