Box Score 2 Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's tennis team swept a pair of weekend matches to extend their win streak to four consecutive matches.
Saturday saw the Wildcats travel to Patrick and Henry CC. The women defeated an undermanned Patriot squad 7-2. JWU swept the doubles matches as the #1 doubles team of Gabriella Tully and Jacqueline Rodgers defeated Emily Vaught and Blair Cole 8-4, while the remaining two doubles matches were defaulted in the favor of the Wildcats.
Kourtney Newton fell to Vaught 6-3, 6-4 in the #1 singles match. Hannah Stokes took Cole the distance in the #2 singles match, eventually falling 6-2, 6-4, 6-6 (8-6). The Wildcats won the four remaining singles matches by default.
JWU returned home on Sunday to take on Salem College. The Wildcats dominated singles play to earn a 6-3 win.
The Spirits took the first two doubles matches before the #3 doubles pair of Hannah Stokes and Erin Weidner cruised to an 8-0 win over Salem's Harley Hedrick and Jasmine Scott.
Jacqueline Rodgers picked up her first collegiate win in comeback fashion in the #1 singles match. After splitting the first two sets with Cadence Durham, Rodgers fell behind 8-4 in the third set tiebreak before rallying to win 10-8. Kendall Conrad won the #2 singles match via a retirement, while Tully was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Emily Griffis. Stokes and Weidner both won in straight sets in the 5th and 6th singles matches, respectively.
The Wildcats are next in action on Wednesday, March 22nd when the travel to Raleigh, NC to take on William Peace University at 1:00pm.
