Men's Tennis Earns Program's First Win

Martinsville, VA - The Johnson & Wales men's tennis team defeated Patrick and Henry Community College 8-1 on Saturday to claim the program's first team match win.

The Wildcats got off to a quick start in the doubles matches as the #1 doubles pair of Jonathan Millwood and Sam Ciciarello defeated P&HCC's Francisco Coronado and Nicolas Blanc 8-1. The #2 doubles tandem of Dylan Hight and Samuel Wilder did them one better by besting Iago Costa Andrade and Amir Post 8-0. JWU claimed the #3 doubles match by default.

Singles play saw the Wildcats win three of four contested matches, with Millwood and Wilder winning in straight sets. Wilder Noyes defeated Blanc 7-6, 6-4 in the #3 singles match. P&HCC got their only point in the #4 singles match as Post defeated Paul Canady 6-3, 6- 2. Ciciarello and Devonte Hill took the final two singles matches be default.

The Wildcats are next in action on Wednesday when they travel to William Peace University for a 1:00pm match.
