Fleetwood, Pa. - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte golf teams played in their first full field D-III tournament in school history on Sunday and Monday at the Golden Oaks Shootout hosted by Arcadia University.
The Wildcat men shot a new school record 295 in Sunday's opening round to take a three shot lead. JWU followed that up with a 307 total in Monday's second round to finish in second place overall, seven shots behind eventual winner Albright.
Bowen Kicklighter (74-73-147) and
Jonathan Le (71-75-147) each finished runner-up in the individual portion of the tournament.
Parker Legreid shot rounds of 73-80-153 to finish tied for 11th.
Jake Weerts (77-79-156/T17th) and
Quinton Heljenek (82-79-161/31st) were the other two scoring players for JWU.
Garrett Hartley, playing as an individual, made six birdies across two rounds to shoot a 155 total, good enough for a tie for 15th place.
The JWU women posted rounds of 379-381-760 to claim 6th place in the team competition.
Meadow Ciccarella led the way for the Willdcats, shooting scores of 79-87-166 to finish tied for 12th.
Isabelle Wood posted a top 20 finish after rounds of 90-88-178.
Isabelle Tack was 33rd, posting a 199 total.
Nellie Brewer finished 39th with a 217 total, while
Ashley Hart was 45th with a 279 total.
The men's fall season is complete. The women next travel to Oxford, Pa. on October 27th and 28th to compete in the Colonial Women's Golf Conference championship at Wyncote Golf Club.
