Men's Golf Sweeps At JWU Spring Invite

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Johnson & Wales men's and women's golf teams hosted the JWU Spring Invite on Monday and Tuesday at Maple Chase Golf & Country Club.

The Wildcat men closed with a flourish, shooting a 309 in Tuesday's second round to win the team title by two strokes over Bluefield and four over Bob Jones. The Wildcats shot a 326 in Monday's opening round, that left them in a tie for second, eight shots behind Bluefield.

Bowen Kicklighter claimed his first collegiate title, shooting rounds of 77-74-151 to finish three shots ahead of teammate Johnathan Le. Le carded a 72 on Tuesday, the best single round of the tournament, to go with a 82 on Monday. Parker Legreid finished 9th after rounds of 83-80-163. 

JWU's women's team finished third behind champions Bluefield and runner-up Meredith. The Wildcats shot scores of 468-433-901 over the two days. Meadow Ciccarella finished 4th individually with rounds of 85-82-167. Nellie Brewer also finished in the top ten, carding rounds of 104-102-206, good enough for seventh place. 

The Wildcat men are next in action on March 16th when they travel to Virginia Beach, Va. to take part in the Marlins Invitational. The women are off until April 7th when they play in the East Tennessee Collegiate in Johnson City, Tenn.
