Track & Field Opens Season At John Hunter Classic

Columbia, SC - The Johnson & Wales women's track and field team participated in the John Hunter Classic, hosted by Columbia International University on Saturday, March 8th.

Freshman Abby Vandiver enjoyed the most success of any Wildcat. She finished 12th in the shot put, with a top throw of 7.64 meters. She then finished 11th in the discus, throwing 26.69 meters. Sarah Milne was another multi-event participant for JWU. She finished 14th in the long jump, leaping 4.41 meters, and then claimed 19th place in the 400 meters with a time of 1:15.21.

Emoni Williams ran a 14.67 second 100 meter dash to finish 23rd, and then came home 20th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:16.03. Kirsten Cannon was the fastest Wildcat in the 400, finishing 17th in 1:12.94.

JWU next competes in the Elon Invitational on Friday, March 14th in Elon, NC.
