Harrisonburg, Va. - Eastern Mennonite defeated Johnson & Wales Charlotte 3-0 in women's soccer action on Friday evening.
The Royals broke out on top in the game's ninth minute as Leah Beachy converted from the penalty spot following a JWU foul inside the penalty area. EMU enjoyed an 11-1 shot advantage in the first half, and used that to double their lead eighteen minutes before halftime on a Hannah Kepler goal. The Wildcats were able to reverse that trend in the second half, outshooting the Royals 11-4, putting three of those shots on target. None found the back of the net however, as EMU added a third tally a half hour into the period.
Jessica Ralph led JWU with 3 shots, while
Azalianna Absalom and Jessica Garman added 2 apiece.
Zoe Balmer made 5 saves in goal.
The Wildcats next travel to Hollins, Va. on Sunday, September 7th to take on Hollins University at 11:00am.
