Hilton Head Island, S.C. - Clark University defeated Johnson & Wales in a pair of tennis matches on Tuesday. The Clark women won 6-1, while the Johnson & Wales men fell 5-2.
Anna Katherine Medlin won her fourth consecutive singles match in the #1 position, defeating Clark's Larkin Gardinier 6-0, 6-4. She teamed with Palmona Nitcholas to also prevail in the #1 doubles match 6-1 over Gardinier and Merielle Kane.
Danielle Brake forced a third set tiebreak in the #6 singles match and forced extra points before eventually falling to Chau Quach 6-4, 4-6, 0-1 (9-11).
The Wildcat men earned two points from a pair of three set matches.
Justin Wagner defeated Graham Russo 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 )10-8) in the #3 singles contest. Sam Ciccarello played two tiebreakers in three sets, outlasting Ethan Montane 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 1-0 (10-6).
JWU's tennis teams are back in action on Wednesday morning. The women take on Waynesburg and the men face off against Dubuque. Both matches start at 8:30am.at Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Resort.
