Men's Basketball Has Winning Streak Snapped by Bluefield State

Box Score

Charlotte, N.C. - The USCAA #17 Johnson & Wales men's basketball team saw its four game winning streak snapped at the hands of Bluefield State on Monday, losing 78-71 at the Wildcat Center.

The Wildcats (8-14) struggled badly from outside, connecting on just 3-of-24 attempts from behind the arc.  Alcyone Moore led the hosts with 12 points on the evening while Malik Bullock chipped in with 10 points.

Johnson & Wales couldn't find an answer for Bluefield State's Korey Williams, who came off the bench to scorch the Wildcats for 34 points.

After trailing by 10 in the second half, the Wildcats managed to claw to within three points on a pair of free throws by Moore with 45 seconds remaining.  However, Williams would finish a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line down the stretch to ensure victory for Bluefield State (9-13).  He finished 9-of-9 overall for the night from the charity stripe and 11-of-24 from the floor.

Johnson & Wales will resume play on Thursday when it travels to Sumter, S.C., to play Morris College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
