Box Score Lynchburg, VA - The Johnson & Wales women's tennis team took on Randolph College in a blustery Lynchburg, VA on Saturday afternoon. The hosts prevailed 8-1.
The doubles matches proved to be competitive as Eboni Montague and Kendall Conrad lost to Val Santos and Zu Elkhansa 8-5 in the first doubles match. Maira Teurel and Miranda Montes took three games from Sabrina Dickerson and Bailey Livingston in the #2 doubles match, while Hannah Stokes and Ginger Gibson were blanked in the third doubles match against Cassidy Bell and Jenna Fink.
Santos defeated Teurel 6-0, 6-1 in the #1 singles match. Montague won her second singles match of the season besting Elkhansa 6-2, 6-1. Conrad, playing in the #3 singles match, fell to Dickerson 6-4, 6-1. Hannah Stokes won a game from Livingston, but Livingston took the match 6-0, 6-1. Miranda Montes had her best career showing in a singles match to date, winning nine games in her match against Cassidy Bell (6-4, 7-5). Ginger Gibson also won her first game in singles competition in a 6-0, 6-1 loss to Randolph's Fink.
The Wildcats are back in action on Sunday, February 2oth as they take on Meredith College in Raleigh, NC at 1:00pm.
