Charlotte, NC - Two time state champion Niklas Seguin has signed with Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's soccer as announced by head coach Phil Kroft.
Seguin is a Mooresville, NC native and played at Christ The King High School in Huntersville. He was a key part of the Crusaders' back-to-back NCHSAA 1A state champions in 2021 and 2022. Sequin started each of his four years in high school, and is the school's single season assist leader. He garnered 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-Region, and 2nd Team Charlotte Observer All-Area Team honors. He also served as team captain during his high school career.
He is the son of Katia and Daniel Seguin, and intends to major in Sports, Event, and Entertainment Management at Johnson & Wales. The familiarity with the coaching staff and family atmosphere at Johnson & Wales led Seguin to become a Wildcat. "When I visited JWU and saw the atmosphere I knew it was the right choice. I have known Coach Phil Kroft for a while and I know he is a great guy. I am looking for a family atmosphere and JWU provides that. Academically JWU will provide me the opportunities to be successful."
Coach Kroft in turn used his experience coaching Seguin to develop a lasting relationship. "I had the pleasure of coaching Nik at the club level years ago, and everyone who has coached him since agrees with how great of a person and player he is. We're excited for him to bring his energy and drive to our attack."
Seguin is ready to get his Wildcat career off and running. "I am excited for this new chapter in my life. I am blessed to be able to have the opportunity to join a high level soccer family. I can't wait to help the team win another championship. GO Wildcats!"
