Track & Field Competes In Inaugural Indoor Meet

Winston-Salem, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's track and field team, along with members of the men's cross country team, took to the indoor track for the first time in school history this weekend as they competed at the JDL DMR Invite.

Bee Singleton competed in shot put on Friday night, finishing 6th of 10 throwers in the first flight. Her best throw was 29' 05" *8.85m), good enough for 17th place overall out of 26 competitors.

The men's cross country team members took part in the men's distance relay event, and won their heat, besting all of the other non-scholarship schools that were competing. Their time of 11:25.01 was over 9 seconds quicker than the next fastest team from Hampden-Sydney.

Emily Spies ran her first collegiate event, the 800 meters. She ran a 2:45.72, good enough for 15th place in the 31 runner field, consisting of DI, DII, and DIII runners.

Three of the men also ran the mile. Stevenson Barnes (4:45.01) finished 27th, Dillon Neeley (4:51.39) was 33rd, and Camden Misenheimer (5:25.44) came home 40th in the 47 man field.

Finally, Maleik Chalmers ran the 400m in a time of 55.33 to finish 13th in a field of 31 runners.
