Box Score Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales women's tennis team moved over .500 for the first time in program history with an 8-2 win over Southwest Virginia Community College on Friday afternoon.
The Wildcats got off to a quick start, winning two of the three doubles matches. Jacqueline Rodgers and Gabriella Tully combined to win the #1 doubles match 8-5, while Hannah Stokes and Erin Weidner teamed to take the #3 doubles match 8-7 after winning the tiebreaker 7-4.
JWU continued the momentum in the singles matches as Rodgers, Tully, Weidner, and Stokes all won their matches in straight sets. Kourtney Newton also won the #5 singles match 6-2, 6-2, as the Wildcats went 5-1 in singles.
JWU's rescheduled match today against Ferrum has been postponed due to wet courts. A new makeup date has not yet been announced.
