Winston-Salem, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte track and field team debuted Saturday at the JDL Last Chance meet in Winston-Salem, NC.
This was the only indoor meet on the schedule for the Wildcats, as well as the only meet in the month of February.
Alonie Baxter competed in both the 60m and 200m sprints, setting new personal bests in both (8.91s and 30.36s, respectively).
Sarah Milne and Zynah Johnson also ran in the 200m. Each of the three finished in the top 20 in the 200, with Baxter 16th, Milne 17th, and Johnson 20th.
Bee Singleton finished 27th in the shot put, throwing 8.75 meters.
Members of the men's cross country team also competed in various events with success. Dillon Neeley won his heat of the mile run with a personal best time of 4:42. Maleik Chalmers posted an 11th place finish in the 200 meters, running 23.66. Finally, the Men's Distance Medley Relay team set a new school record time of 11:23.45. That foursome consisted of Chalmers, Neeley, Stevenson Barnes, and Logan Shaffer.
The next meet for the track & field team is their first outdoor event of the season, which will take place at Columbia International on March 15th.
