Track & Field Sees Success At Southern Wesleyan

Central, SC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte track & field team saw several outstanding performances at the Gotta Run Invite hosted by Southern Wesleyan University on Friday.

Bee Singleton led the Wildcats in the throwing events. She finished 15th in the shot put, throwing 29 feet exactly. Kailah Surratt jumped 14 feet, 8 inches in the long jump to finish 19th, while Zynah Johnson had a best jump of 13 feet, 5 inches to finish 22nd. Surratt then finished 13th in the triple jump with a mark of 31 feet, 11 inches.

Kacie Delaughter posted a top five finish in the 5000 meters, running a time of 23:19.39. Emily Spies finished sixth in the 3000 meters with a time of 12:54.22. 

The men shone in the distance events as well. JWU had half of the top ten in the 5000 meters. Stevenson Barnes finished 2nd (16:14.95), Dillon Neeley was 4th (16:37.68), and Logan Shaffer finished 6th in 17:00.84. Camden Mishenheimer was one spot behind Shaffer, running a 17:12.02, while Dylan Michaud finished 10th in 18:05.72.

Barnes also posted a fifth place finish in the 3000 meters, finishing in 9:27.22. Neeley nabbed another top ten in the 1500 meters, running a 4:24.17 to finish 9th.

The Wildcats are next in Charlotte on Friday, April 5th as they take part in the Golden Bulls Invite at Johnson C. Smith.
