Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales track and field team had it's best meet in school history on Friday at the JCSU Golden Bull Invite.

The women's jumpers fared well as
Kaliah Surratt leapt 9.87 meters in the triple jump to finish 11th, while Zynah Johnson came home 14th with a distance of 8.60 meters. The pair then competed in the long jump with Surratt jumping 4.52 meters, good enough for 12th place, and Johnson was one place behind, posting a best jump of 4.41 meters.
Trinity Graham paced the Wildcats in the throwing events. She finished 12th in the shot put, with a top throw of 8.15 meters, and came home 18th in the javelin, posting a best throw of 13.48 meters.Â
Emily Spies ran a 5:46.67 in the 1500 meters, to finish 6th, and followed that up with a win in the 3000 meter steeplechase, running a 14:14.21.
Alonie Baxter ran a time of 13.83 in the 100 meters, finishing 20th, and then placed 19th in the 200 meters, posting a time of 28.37.
Sarah Milne finished two spots behing Baxter in the 200, running 30.35, and then finished 19th in the 400 meters, with a time of 1:13.07.
The women's relay teams finished 5th in both the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 events.
The men had an outstanding meet.
Maleik Chalmers finished 13th in the men's 200 meters, posting a time of 22.93 seconds. He then finished 5th in the 400 meters in 50.16 seconds.Â
Dillon Neeley ran a personal best 2:02.91 in the 800 meters to grab a top five finish. He followed that up by winning the 1500 meters in 4:12.92.
Logan Shaffer made it two Wildcats on the podium, running a 4:23.75 to finish 3rd.
Colby Belk made it three JWU runners in the top 10 with a time of 5:18.17.
Belk found himself on the podium in the 3000 meter steeplechase (13:23.22/3rd), while
Logan Shaffer ran away with the event, winning by just under 45 seconds in 10:45.30.Â
Stevenson Barnes won both the 3000 meters (9:30.63) and 5000 meters (16:33.75). Dylan Michaud joined Barnes in the top three of the 5000 meters, running a 18:11.57.
The men topped off the meet by winning the Men's Distance Medley relay. Barnes, Chalmers, and
Camden Misenheimer ran the first three legs and had the Wildcats in runner-up position before Neeley ran a 4:30 1600 meters to make up a 30 meter gap and ultimately winning the event.
JWU heads to Brevard, NC on Friday, April 12th to participate in the Tornado Invitational.
