Men's Tennis Wins Second Straight

Box Score Charlotte, N.C. - Johnson & Wales defeated Brevard 4-3 in men's tennis on Friday afternoon.

The Wildcats earned the doubles point with a sweep of the three matches. John Billinis and Hugo Cossais struck first in the #1 doubles match. knocking off Brevard's Ayden Montero and Noah Boyles 6-4. Nathaniel Lawler and Maxwell Frederick cruised to a 6-1 win in #2 doubles, while Sam Ciccarello and Kayden Danzer took down Alexander Voss and David Hoyle 6-3. 

Billinis made two wins in as many matches as he downed Montero 6-2, 6-4. The Tornados battled back, winning three straight matches in the #'s 2, 3, and 4 singles to take a 3-2 lead before Cole Goodman-Gary defeated Garrett Cardwell 6-4, 6-2 in #6 singles to tie the score at 3. That left the #5 singles match to decide things. JWU's Sam Ciccarello and Brevard's Connor Sechrist each won a set, sending matters to a tiebreak, where Ciccarello came out on top 10-5 to give the Wildcats the 4-3 win.

JWU next travels to Pfeiffer on 3/25 for a 3:00pm match.
