Charlotte, NC – The Wildcats (5-18) hosted the Pacers of William Peace University this afternoon in their second match-up of the season. The Pacers took the lead at 6-3 and continued their lead until the final buzzer. JWU fell to WPU 78-69.
The Wildcats quickly fell behind to the Pacers early in the first half. The Pacers took the lead at 6-3 and continued to play solid offensive, widening their lead. Mistakes made by JWU allowed WPU to gain points on free throw shots, going on a 6-2 run. WPU began to lose control as the Wildcats would begin to close the gap, ending the half 38-34.
Opening the second half with a basket, the Pacers would continue their lead 44-38. Both teams played solid defensively as Nigel Massey's jumper would prove to be the only points scored during 5 minutes of game play. The Wildcats battled with strong offensive to try to reduce their deficit by going on a 10-3 run. Unfortunately, JWU could not fight back falling to a final score of 78-69.
The Wildcats were led by Michal Daniel with 12 points, followed by Jay Keller and Kindrick Anderson with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Kareem Wilson and Joshua Cohen both contributed 6 rebounds.
The Wildcats are next in action at home on Monday, January 28th as they host Warren Wilson College. Tip off is schedule for 7:30pm.
