Box Score Greensboro, NC – The Wildcats (3-4) traveled to Greensboro this afternoon to take on the Pacers of William Peace University in the first of two games they will play during the Guilford College Invitational. JWU was unable to secure a win, falling to the Pacers 80-76.
The first half started with a 13-2 run by the Pacers. The Wildcats were able to close the gap to five at 30-25 with 6:48 left in the half. Hursel Forbes' 3 pointer sparked a 10-5 run for the Wildcats to finish out the half. The Wildcats went into the half trailing by 4 at 43-39.
The Pacers started the second half on a 12-6 run to take a ten 10 point lead at 55-45. Peace's lead grew to as many as 17 at 65-48 with just over 9 minutes left. Over the next 8 minutes JWU responded with a 23-10 run to cut the gap to four. A Bobby Striven layup with 5 seconds left made it a one possession game, but Peace was able to seal the win with two free throws.
The Wildcats were led by Joshua Cohen with 22 points and 10 rebounds. DeQuincey Bennett and Kindrick Anderson followed with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Nick Crawford also contributed 7 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists.
The Wildcats will have a short break before returning to the court tomorrow for their final game of the tournament taking on the LaGrange Panthers. Tipoff is set for 1pm.
