Box Score Charleston, SC - Rickey Porter's double-double wasn't enough for the Johnson & Wales men's basketball team as the Wildcats dropped a 97-65 decision at NCAA Division I program Charleston Southern on Wednesday.
Porter recorded 25 points and 11 rebounds for the Wildcats (4-2), while teammate Caleb Mercer chipped in with 11 points off the bench against the defending Big South regular season champions.
The Wildcats struggled early with Charleston Southern's high pressure defense, committing 20 first half turnovers and 27 for the game. Johnson & Wales was outrebounded 55-38 on the night, the first time this season they haven't held the advantage.
Charleston Southern (1-2) placed four players in double figures, led by Armel Potter and Patrick Wallace with 14 points each.
Johnson & Wales will resume play on Dec. 2 when they host NCAA Division 3 program Averett University. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.
