Fast Start Lifts Women's Basketball Past Penn State Beaver

Monaca, P.A. - The Johnson & Wales University women's basketball team opened with a 20-3 run as they defeated USCAA foe Penn State Beaver 86-59 on the road Saturday.

Chase Muhammad led a balanced offense with 12 points for the Wildcats (4-1).  Biana Covington, Jaquana Pauling, Ineesha Hankerson, Justice Wallace, and Jenna Mills each finished with nine on the afternoon.

Johnson & Wales stifled the hosts defensively, holding Penn State Beaver (0-3) to just 35 percent shooting while forcing them into 28 turnovers.  The Nittany Lions connected on just 1-of-17 from behind the arc and didn't record a field goal until almost six-and-a-half minutes into the game.

The Wildcats steadily built their advantage throughought the game and led by as many as 36 midway through the fourth quarter.

Penn State Beaver's Cheyenne Lopez led all scorers with 14 points on the day.

The Wildcats will resume pay on Tuesday when they travel to Toccoa, G.A., to play Toccoa Falls College.  Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
