Men's Basketball Falls At Charleston Southern

Box Score

Charleston, SC - The JWU men's basketball team traveled to Charleston on Friday to take on their fourth NCAA D1 opponent of the season, Charleston Southern. CSU's size proved too much for the Wildcats, as they fell 86-61.

The Wildcats played inspired defense, holding the Buccaneers (5-7) to 36% shooting from the field, and the JWU bench outscored the opposing bench 39-14. It was Charleston Southern's 54-34 rebounding advantage and 16 point advantage on second chance points that doomed the Wildcats.

Majerle Poole paced JWU (5-7) with 17 points, followed by Robert Hobson and Zyrion Wilkins with 11 apiece.

Head Coach Dan Larkin on the game: "I'm really proud of our team's performance tonight. While not the outcome we wanted, it was one of our better defensive performances thus far. Charleston Southern did a great job pressuring in the full court and crashing the glass, exposing some of our team's weaknesses. We will come out of the break a better team because of tonight."

JWU's next game is a road contest at Bluefield State on Jan. 4 at 7:00 pm.
