Box Score Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte volleyball team picked up their second win in a row on Tuesday night with a 3-0 sweep of visiting USC-Union.
The first set was close throughout much of the first half of the stanza. The Wildcats went on a 3-0 run to go up 18-14, the largest lead either team enjoyed to that point. USC-Union closed to within 2 at 18-16, but the JWU pulled away from that point to win 25-19.
The Wildcats came out hot in the second set, going up 9-1 on the strength of 3 consecutive service aces from Logan Smith. The Bantams could not find any success in the period, as JWU cruised to a 25-9 win.
JWU went up 7-3 at the start of the third set, and held the Bantams at arms length for the entirety of the period, winning 25-19.
The Wildcats hit .340 on the night, their second best hitting percentage of the season. Emily Arends led the attack with 12 kills, hitting .500. Ahmarie Young added 10 kills and 15 digs. Logan Smith handed out 30 assists and served 4 aces, while Niecee Perofeta recorded 16 digs.
JWU is back at home on Thursday night as they play host to Allen at 7pm.
