Box Score Raleigh, NC - William Peace rallied in the second half to defeat visiting Johnson & Wales Charlotte in men's basketball on Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats led 43-41 at the break in what was a tight first half between the two teams. Fred Patterson scored 18 points in the period, and the Wildcats hit 3 three pointers in final three minutes of the half to erase a six point deficit.
The Pacers outscored the Wildcats by 16 over the first nine minutes of the second half and seemed poised to pull away leading by 14 at 70-56. The Wildcats slowly whittled away the lead, tying it on a Patterson bucket with 4:11 to play, and then taking the lead with a Patterson charity toss on the next possession. William Peace responded to the challenge, scoring on 7 of their final 8 possessions to secure the 88-83 win.
Patterson scored a career-high 34 points on 15-23 shooting. He also grabbed 11 rebounds. Anthoney Ray added 19 points for the Wildcats.
JWU drops to 3-2 on the season, while William Peace improves to that same 3-2 mark.
The Wildcats are next in action on Friday, November 25th as they take on Livingstone in the first game of the JCSU Tip-Off Classic.
