Mars Hill Roars Past Women's Basketball

Charlotte, NC - Visiting Mars Hill defeated Johnson & Wales Charlotte in women's basketball action 101-70 on Friday night. 

The Lions knocked down 8 of 9 free throws in building a 24-16 first quarter lead, and then blew the game open in the second quarter, shooting 14-23 from the field (60.9%) Maddie Gillie scored 19 points in the first 20 minutes to help Mars Hill to a 29 point halftime advantage. 

JWU knocked down five 3 pointers in the third quarter, three of which came from Jordan Durant, but could only play Mars Hill to a 27-27 draw in the period. The teams comboned to turn the ball over 14 times in the fourth quarter, as the outcome had long been decided.

Durant led the Wildcats with 20 points to go along with 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Tanaeschia Dorsey added 15 points and 3 rebounds, while Jayla Lovett came off the bench to score 10 points.

The Wildcats are back in action on Sunday, December 4th as they host Apprentice School for a 1pm tipoff.
