Box Score Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's basketball team picked up their 19th win of the season Wednesday night, matching last year's total, with a 73-64 win over Carolina Christian.
The Wildcats jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the game's first five minutes, but saw the Centurions close to within three points at halftime, as JWU shot just 12 of 33 from the field in the first twenty minutes.
Carolina Christian used an 11-6 run out of the locker room to grab their only lead of the game, 38-36 at the 4:55 mark of the third quarter. JWU answered with an 15-5 spurt to finish the quarter, regaining control of the game. Back-to-back three pointers by Victoria Boddie and Jordan Durant helped push the lead to as many as 14 early in the final stanza, and the Wildcats never led by fewer than 5 the rest of the way.
Jayla Lovett came off the bench to lead the Wildcats with 18 points to go along with 5 rebounds. Durant had 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists.
With the regular season complete, JWU awaits word on their selection for the USCAA National Tournament. Those selections will be announced on Sunday, March 5th.
