Charlotte, N.C. - Georgia's Rion King has signed to play softball at Johnson & Wales Charlotte as part of the Wildcats' 2026 recruiting class.
King attends Woodward Academy in Atlanta, where she helped lead the War Eagles to 54 wins over her four year career. For the 2025-26 season, she batted .451 with eight extra base hits and sixteen RBI. She plays club softball for Impact Caymol Casstevens.
She is the daughter of Erica Dyson and Deon King, Sr. and plans to major in Health Science at Johnson & Wales. King had several reasons for choosing to attend JWU. "I choose JWU because of the environment. I love the size of the school along with the city. My coaches also made me feel very welcome and at home." King has been an Honor Roll student each of her four years at Woodward Academy.
Wildcat head coach
Courtney Orr loves the initiative King showed during the recruiting process. "Rion has been tenacious with her interest in playing at the next level and staying in communication with us. What impresses me the most about Rion is her character and relentless work ethic! We know Rion will do great things here at JWU."
