Greensboro, N.C. - The American Baseball Coaches Association released its 2025-26 list of ABCA Team Excellence Award Winners on Wednesday, and Johnson & Wales Charlotte was among the teams so recognized.

The American Baseball Coaches Association recognized more than 500 member college programs nationwide with the 2025-26 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack. Following the conclusion of the spring semester, coaches were invited to nominate their teams for the award before the July 17 deadline. To qualify, a program was required to meet the following criteria:

• Be a college baseball program
• Have a head coach who is a current ABCA member
• Post a minimum cumulative team GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the 2025-26 academic year

The Wildcats posted a cumulative team GPA of 3.24 for the year. Head coach Steve Hucke is elated that a first-year program could be so honored."I am proud of this group of young men! Not only did they work hard on the baseball field they also understood what it means to be a student-athlete by working hard and taking pride in their academics. This is a great accomplishment!"
